Words to draw, split into easy, medium and hard. Draw one word per turn, or a whole set at the start of the game so nobody sees them in advance.

Running the game

Standard Pictionary is one minute per turn, no letters, no numbers and no talking. The drawer may not use words at all, which is why hard words are hard: you cannot draw "patience", so you have to draw something that makes people say it.

Keeping it fair

  • Match the level to the room — mixed difficulty is unfair when one team draws "dog" and the other draws "nostalgia".
  • Generate everything first — one list at the start, handed out one at a time, beats passing a screen around.
  • Allow a pass — one skip per player keeps a bad draw from ending someone's turn.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the difficulty levels?

Easy words are concrete objects a child can draw — a cat, a boat, a ladder. Medium adds actions and compound things. Hard is abstract ideas and idioms, where you have to draw the meaning rather than the thing.

How many words does a game need?

Roughly one per player per round. Six players over three rounds is eighteen words. Draw a few extra, because someone always gets one they cannot start.

Can I use these for charades?

Yes, though the levels shift. Objects that are easy to draw can be hard to act out, and actions that are hard to draw are often the easiest to mime. Medium usually works best for charades.

Can the same result appear twice?

Not unless you turn on "Allow repeats". By default every item in a list is different, which is what you want for a game, a team draw or a set of prompts.
