About Capitalize Titaly
Free writing tools that run in your browser, built and maintained by a small independent team.
What this site is
Capitalize Titaly is a set of free writing tools. The main one fixes the capital letters in a title or a heading according to a named style guide — APA, Chicago, AP, MLA, Bluebook, AMA, the New York Times, Wikipedia, or the plainer rules people use for email subject lines. Around it sit converters for text and data, generators for names and titles, page-count calculators, and daily help with word games.
Everything runs inside your browser. The text you paste is never sent to a server, so there is nothing to sign up for, nothing to upload and nothing to delete afterwards.
Where the rules come from
The capitalization rules are taken from the current published editions of each guide: the APA Publication Manual (7th edition), The Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition), the AP Stylebook, the MLA Handbook (9th edition), The Bluebook, the AMA Manual of Style (11th edition), the New York Times Manual of Style and Usage, and Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Where guides disagree — on prepositions of four letters, on the word after a colon, on hyphenated compounds — the tool follows each guide's own rule rather than averaging them.
Every change to the site runs through a set of automated checks that compare the output of each style against worked examples from the guides themselves. If you find a title the tool gets wrong, tell us which style you used and what you expected, and we will add it to those checks.
Who makes it
The site is built and maintained by a small independent team of web developers. There is no company behind it selling writing software, and no newsletter to join. The site is paid for by the advertising you may see around the tools, and by nothing else.
Getting in touch
Corrections, bug reports and requests for a tool that does not exist yet all go to the same place: the contact page. Corrections to a style rule are the most useful message we get.
