Strikethrough Text Generator
C̶r̶o̶s̶s̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ anything, then paste it where there is no strikethrough button. The line is a combining mark attached to each letter, so it travels with the text.

What people use this for
- Prices — _20 struck through next to the new one, in a bio or a listing.
- Edits in public — showing you changed your mind rather than hiding it.
- Done lists — ticking items off in a note app with no formatting.
- Jokes — the crossed-out thing you meant, followed by the polite version.
A warning about character limits
Every struck-through letter is two characters, not one. A 100-character bio limit becomes roughly 50 usable letters. Some sites also strip combining marks on save, which leaves your text intact but unstruck.
Please use these sparingly
Screen readers do not cope well with substituted characters. Depending on the app, a styled word is read out one letter at a time, read as a string of symbol names, or skipped entirely. Someone using a screen reader may simply never receive that part of your profile.
One styled phrase in a bio is a design choice. An entire profile in styled characters shuts people out, and search cannot read it either. Keep your name, your job and your link in plain letters.
Frequently asked questions
How does the line stay attached?
Each letter gets an invisible combining mark placed after it. Your device draws the two together as one glyph. Because the mark is a character in its own right, copying the text copies the line too.
Why does the line sometimes look broken?
Each stroke is drawn per letter, so at some font sizes the joins between them show as tiny gaps. It is a rendering detail, not damaged text. Zooming in or changing app usually makes it look continuous again.
Can I strike through a whole paragraph?
Yes, and line breaks are left alone so your layout survives. Be aware the output is about twice as many characters as the input, which matters where there is a character limit.
Is this a font I have to install?
No. These are real Unicode characters that happen to look styled. The look is part of the character itself, so it travels with the text. Nobody needs to install anything to see it.
Why do some styles show as empty boxes?
A box means the device you are looking at has no font covering that character. Older Android phones hit this most often. Check your text on a phone before you put it in a bio, and prefer the styles near the top of the page — they are the widely supported ones.
Will fancy text hurt my search visibility?
It can. Search treats a styled letter as a different character from the plain one, so a name written in fancy text will not match when somebody searches the normal spelling. Keep your name and the important words plain, and decorate around them.
