Reverse List

Last item first, first item last. Nothing inside an item changes — this flips the order of the list, not the letters inside it.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Paste your list.
  2. 2Tell it how the items are separated, or let it work that out.
  3. 3Choose how to join the result — one per line, or comma-separated.
  4. 4Copy the reversed list.

When reversing is the quickest fix

Exports come out oldest-first far more often than anybody wants. So do chat logs, bank statements and anything sorted by a database that was never asked to sort it. Reversing is a single step, and it does not touch the items themselves — which matters when re-sorting would destroy an order you cannot reconstruct.

Order that a sort cannot recreate

If the order is meaningful but not alphabetical or numeric — a running order, a sequence of events, a ranking somebody decided by hand — reversing is the only safe operation. Sorting it would throw away the one thing the list was carrying.

Frequently asked questions

Does this reverse the text inside each item?

No. “January” stays “January”; it just moves to the other end of the list. If you want the letters backwards, that is a different job — this tool only changes the order of the items.

Can I reverse a comma-separated line?

Yes. Set the separator to commas, or leave it on automatic and it will work it out. You can also change what the result is joined with, so a comma-separated line can come back as a column.
