Empty Invisible Character Generator

Blank characters that survive a form that will not accept an empty field. Press Generate as often as you like — nothing is saved and nothing is sent anywhere.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Pick a character — the ones near the top are the most widely supported.
  2. 2Press Copy. Nothing will look as though it has been copied. That is correct.
  3. 3Paste it where you need the blank.
  4. 4Check it survived: some apps strip these on save.

What these actually are

Real Unicode characters that have no visible shape: zero-width spaces, the Hangul filler, the braille blank. They were added for typesetting and for scripts that need an invisible placeholder, and a blank name field is not what anybody had in mind.

Use them sparingly

A screen reader either skips these or announces them, and neither is helpful. A blank display name in particular makes you unmentionable and unsearchable, which is usually not what people want when they set one.

Frequently asked questions

Why does nothing appear when I paste?

That is the character doing its job — it occupies a position without drawing anything. If the field now accepts your input where it was rejecting an empty one, it worked.

Will it work everywhere?

No. Plenty of platforms strip blank characters when they save, and some reject them at validation. Test it in the app you are actually targeting before you rely on it.
